Answers to common questions, and how to join our early access. If you can't find what you need, just write to us — a real person reads every email.

How to become a tester

  1. Email us at 1bytesystems@gmail.com with the Google account you use on Google Play (usually a Gmail address) and the apps you'd like to try.
  2. Wait for our reply. We add your account to the “1Byte Systems testers” list and let you know.
  3. Open each app's test link on your Android device, signed in with that account, and tap Become a tester.
  4. Install from Google Play using the link on the same page. Updates arrive through Google Play as usual.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I download your apps?

All our apps and games are in early access: they are in closed testing on Google Play, so for now only people on our tester list can install them. A public release on Google Play will follow when testing is complete. To get them today, become a tester.

How much do your apps cost?

During early access, our apps and games are available at no cost through the closed test on Google Play. They contain no ads, and our games have no in-app purchases: coins are earned only by playing.

Do your apps collect any data?

No. Our apps contain no ads, no analytics and no third-party tracking SDKs, and you don't need an account with us. Everything you create stays on your device. 1B Terminal and 1B Files connect only to the servers you configure. 1B Music also looks up covers, song details and lyrics in public music databases such as MusicBrainz — it sends titles, artist and album names, durations and acoustic fingerprints, never your audio files, and you can turn this off — and it sends your listens to Last.fm or ListenBrainz only if you connect your own account. 1B Weather gets its forecasts from our own weather server: places leave your phone rounded to an area of about 2 km, and the server keeps no records per user. 1B Pass, 1B Docs and all our games don't even request Internet access. The details are in our privacy policy.

Which devices are supported?

Android phones, tablets and foldables. 1B Files, 1B Pass, 1B Music and 1B Recorder require Android 11 or later, and 1B Recorder also has an app for Wear OS watches; the other apps and games run on Android 8.0 or later. 1B Zombie Hunter needs a device with OpenGL ES 3.0 and is rated for adults.

Our desktop programs for Linux and Windows aren't available yet; each one's page says where it stands.

Which languages are available?

All our apps and games are available in 21 languages: English, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). They follow your device language, and you can pick another one in each app's settings or in Android's per-app language settings. This website is available in the same 21 languages.

The test link says the app isn't available. What should I do?

  • Make sure we have confirmed that your Google account is on the tester list (it can take a few minutes to take effect).
  • Open the link while signed in to Google Play with that same account — check the account picker in the Play Store app.
  • If you use several Google accounts in your browser, open the link in the Play Store app or a private window.

Still stuck? Write to us and we'll sort it out.

I found a bug or have an idea. How do I tell you?

Email us at 1bytesystems@gmail.com. Tell us the app and its version (you'll find it in the app's settings or About screen), your device model and Android version, and the steps to reproduce the problem. A screenshot or short screen recording helps a lot. Testers can also send private feedback from the app's page on Google Play.

Will I lose my data when the app updates?

No. Updates from Google Play keep your data and settings. Uninstalling an app deletes its data, because we keep nothing on our side — there is no cloud account to restore it from.

Can I leave the test?

Yes, at any time: open the app's test link and choose to leave the program. You can also just uninstall the app.
